Blood donation is the best kind of appointment to double-book. Bring a friend, and you both donate more calmly, more safely, and more often. This is how:
Step 1 — Pick the buddy
Anyone eligible: 18-65, 50 kg+, no recent tattoo, feeling well. First-timers make excellent buddies — they need the company most and the habit sticks deepest when it starts shared.
Step 2 — Book together
Walk into your nearest centre or camp together. Tell the staff you’re a pair — centres usually seat you side by side if beds allow, and they love buddy donors (two donations, one story, better retention — everyone wins).
Step 3 — The waiting-room rule
One of you is always “experienced” within ten minutes. The first donor walks out with a bandage and becomes the second donor’s calm — “it’s nothing, squeeze the ball, look at your phone.” First-timers with buddies almost never feel faint, because the hand on the shoulder is doing real medical work.
Step 4 — Refreshments, together
Take the 15-minute rest as your friendship’s standing appointment. Tea, biscuits, and the specific pride of having done a hard small thing on purpose.
Step 5 — Book the next date together
90/120 days later, same pair, same plan. Regular donors who start as buddies have the highest return rate of any donor type — the friendship carries the habit.
The upgrade path
Two becomes four becomes a WhatsApp group of eight — then a camp. Every big donor community in Assam started as two people and a shared calendar. Register, bring the friend, start yours.
