In the 24 hours before donation:
- Eat normally — never donate fasted. Iron-rich food helps (see what to eat).
- Drink plenty of water — 500 ml extra in the 2 hours before helps veins and recovery.
- Sleep well the night before.
- Skip alcohol for 24 hours.
- Skip the heavy workout right before (light activity is fine).
- Bring ID — any photo or official ID works.
On the day, tell the screening doctor honestly about any medication, recent illness, tattoo or travel. Everything you say is confidential.
