Age, weight, haemoglobin and health requirements per national standards, in plain language.

The basics, set by national (NBTC) standards:

  • Age: 18–65
  • Weight: 50 kg or more
  • Haemoglobin: 12.5 g/dL or more (tested free at the centre)
  • Temperature & pulse: normal that day
  • Blood pressure: broadly 100–140 over 60–90

Final eligibility is always decided by the blood centre’s doctor on the day — this page is general education, not a medical verdict. If you’re deferred, it’s usually temporary; ask the centre when to come back.
