Emergencies compress thinking. Here is the order that works, tested by hundreds of families. ## Minute one: the hospital blood bank Blood is issued at the licensed blood centre attached to the hospital, nowhere else. Call or walk to the blood bank counter and ask three questions: 1. “Do you have {group} in stock right now?” 2. “If not, can you arrange it from another bank?” 3. “What do you need from us to issue it?” (usually: the requisition slip and a replacement arrangement) Everything else runs in parallel, never instead of this. ## Minute five: alert every matching donor at once Post a request, name, phone, blood group, district, a photo of the slip if you have it. It goes live in seconds and every compatible donor near the hospital is alerted at once. Donors respond directly; you get their number only after they accept. Track everything with your code at /track. While you wait: share the request link in your WhatsApp groups and the community. The share card does the explaining for you. ## Minute fifteen: widen honestly - Ask the blood bank about neighbouring banks, GMCH, AMCH and SMCH hold the deepest stocks.
- Compatible groups matter: an O− donor can help almost any patient; an AB+ patient can receive from almost anyone. Compatibility table here.
- If someone offers to arrange blood for money: refuse. Paid donation is illegal, and “brokers” disappear after payment. ## What slows families down (avoid these) - Posting only on social media and waiting.
- Not knowing the exact blood group, ask the ward; if unknown, post Any group.
- Chasing donors one by one, ten phone calls deep, while the request system could alert them all at once. Related: emergency playbook · track a request · blood centres directory
