Emergency blood support in Assam — what to do, in order

Someone needs blood now. The ordered checklist: hospital first, official availability, then our donor request network.

In order — don’t skip steps:

  1. Contact the hospital blood centre first. The requisition slip names the group and component; the centre is the only place blood is issued from.
  2. Check official availability — the centre or e-RaktKosh (eraktkosh.in) for stock at nearby licensed banks.
  3. Submit a request on our register — a coordinator verifies by phone, then matching voluntary donors near the hospital are alerted until someone accepts. Submit →
  4. Parallel channels: family/social groups — replacement donors are still the majority in Assam; every route matters in an emergency.
  5. Donations happen only at licensed centres. Never meet a “donor” outside a hospital system; never pay anyone for blood — it’s illegal and unsafe.

We are not a blood bank. We don’t hold or issue blood — we mobilise verified voluntary donors and route them to licensed centres. Keep the helpline and the hospital’s numbers on your phone before you need them.
